Wed Oct 31, 2012
I'm so sick of the holidays being about spending money - I'd rather just spend some quality time with family.
Nearly 3 in 10 have no savings for an emergency
Mon Jun 25, 2012
I'm lucky that I can afford to stockpile money in case of emergency - so many are living paycheck-to-paycheck and just can't.

Don't need to, we have our own discretionary accounts for 'fun' spending. He has no say over what i spend mine on, and vice versa.

I'm way too frugal to spend that much eating out more than every couple of weeks.

Fri Sep 9, 2011
Exactly, I've worked with someone who knew nothing, but was very adept at brown-nosing and got ahead that way. I'm in disbelief that people play into that. I don't play the games - I just work hard, deliver quality work on time, play well with others, and don't create any unnecessary drama.

New Orleans blaze kills 8 seeking shelter from cold

Valid point, homesick, but good luck getting our 'leaders' to stop dropping bombs. Without that, we'd have no fear and no sense of 'protection' from these 'dangerous' people. The number I'm drawn to instead is the $500B us normal consumers spend every year on Christmas. I'm sure a good 75% of that …
Protein really is a prescription for weight loss
Sun Dec 12, 2010
I'll 'ditto' quinoa as it's a complete protein, other whole grains, nuts and beans. Try a quinoa and black bean salad, or a three-bean chili for a hearty meal. I also add non-soy "meats" into my diet for protein, but I believe an unfortunate amount of them contain egg and/or dairy.
